If any one wonders what the process looks like from some pictures and video here's the link from last year.

I have to emphasize this is a lot of fun being part of the process and knowing you have contributed to California's Kokanee population. It's a lot of fun!

I received word yesterday from the DFG that two dates had been picked for the Little Truckee/Stampede kokanee egg collections. They are next Wednesday, October 7 and the following Tuesday on October 13.

There are currently 4000-5000 fish behind the weirs that were placed about two weeks ago on the Little Truckee.

Bring your waders and gloves if you have them and HAVE FUN! Check here Monday or call John for further details (times etc.)

John:
I would love to be there again this year, but I will be working on those days. I have Thurs and Fri's off and will watch and see if one of those days come up for collection. Just a a message for the members; if you have not had this opportunity before you should try to do this as it is a great time to see all those fish and be a part of this process.

I have cursory information only this evening. More data will become available very soon and I'll forward that on to you here as it becomes available.

In a word: SUCCESS!!!!! I'm receiving word that everyone had a great time and they're all ready to go back next week. There were 1041 females processed and 350 males milked. They expect the number of eggs collected to top 600,000. I should get a closer count tomorrow.

As of now, next Tuesday is a "GO". Call Director John Lico if you'd like to go have some fun and participate in a most worthwhile project at the same time.

What a group. Thank you all.

Say! Great pictures above. That guy knows what he's doing doesn't he!

Just a quick update folks.... I just got off the phone with San Joaquin. The actual eggtake count for yesterday was 657,620. "Thank you" to everyone involved.

As I type, KP Director Jake Flohr and his team are at the hatchery going through the initial sort. Contact him if you're interested in helping out down there. They'll be working the eggs almost daily for the next few months.

Thanks for posting that Kevin I had a blast. With an operation and scenery like that, it's hard not to get good footage. I really enjoyed myself along with MJK and BigD from Kokemart.

Thanks for the numbers Gary, I put them with my posts.

EGG COLLECTION DELAYED!!!

This just in from the DFG: Tomorrow's egg collection has been postponed, probably until later next week. Flows on the Little Truckee are high, to the point of it being a safety issue. Additionally, the top weir was blown out during yesterday's storm.

Taylor Creek is nearly ready for collection as well. So next week could be a "double dip day".

Check here for more information as it becomes available.
