Kokanee Power is a non-profit organization of volunteers & members dedicated to the enhancement of California and Oregon Inland Kokanee, Trout & Salmon Fisheries. Kokanee Power, in part, provides assistance to the California
Department of Fish & Wildlife and other Fisheries Enhancement Organizations in their ongoing efforts to keep these fish in public waters. We also promote inland fisheries enhancement through various netpen projects such as those at Collins, Lake Almanor, New Melones, and Shasta Lake, support of hatchery programs, education through scholarships & grants, and sportsmanship through our various fishing derbies & tournaments. - Final King Plants and New Plant Charts - The King Plant data has been updated for Trinity, Shasta and Oroville based on recent plants. Also check out out new chart and map technology to review the plant lakes using the link.
- 2nd Kokanee Egg Take Nets 700K+ - Final egg count overall is 1,789,252. Thank you to all volunteers that came out to help. KP volunteers at the Friant hatchery have already been in action since day 1 caring for the eggs, constantly removing bad ones in the egg pots.
- First Egg Take a Success! - Just over a million Kokanee eggs were collected by the DFW along with some great volunteers that showed up to assist. Tentative plan is for next Wed the 16th for another egg take.
- 2019 AOY Results - Adults & Juniors - Here the final results for the Angler of the Year competition. The top five will be recognized at the March banquet in 2020. Congrats to the top finishers.
- Shaver Derby Results - What a derby... 120+ participants, great mountain weather and fish that were scattered throughout the lake. Fish in the 14-15 inch range were the target big fish this year.

- Stampede Aquatic Invasive Species Form - Please make sure to fill out the Invasive species form if you are attending the Stampede derby on August 10th.

- 2019 Kokanee and King Plant Charts Updated - 2019 Kokanee and King Plant Charts Updated - Plant info for 2019 is not available in the charts we update every year. These fish planted are considered one year olds and will be your 3 yr old fish for 2021. The future looks very bright.
- 2019 Whiskeytown Derby Results - A crazy derby where 6lb 3-Fish limits were in the mix and 2 pound plus fish were not unusual. Whiskeytown weights were bigger than last year and plenty of fish to be caught. Check out the results and don't forget Whiskeytown this year.

- Kokanee Plants at Shasta Lake and Whiskeytown - Yes.. that is correct Shasta received 87K and Whiskeytown 50K today. Shasta has not seen Kokanee for many years. Whiskeytown needed a supplement in case Kokanee lost their spawning area based on last summers fires.

- New Melones Pen Planted with Rainbows - The New Melones pen was planted last week with so great looking Rainbow Trout. The will fatten up over the winter and get released in the Spring.
- Silverthorn and Jones Valley Pen plant. - For Lake Shasta Silverthorn received 300 Brown trout and Jones Valley 300 Rainbow trout. All these beautiful trout came from Crystal Lake Hatchery. Tks Monty Currier for the photos.
- Lewiston Pen Plant - The Lewiston lake pen was planted with Rainbows. Click on the link to see some photos.
- KP Donation to Camp Fire Victims - Kokanee Power has donated $1000 towards the Camp Fire victims via the Butte County Schools Fire Relief Fund.
- New Melones Pen Update - The Melones pen was cleaned and put back into the lake and ready for trout. Thanks to volunteers Bob Mooney, Ken Hopper, Mario Lopez and Ken McDonald.
- Shasta Pen Update - Update from Harold Jones at Sugarloaf Cabins. 300 1lb Browns were planted in the Shasta Sugarloaf pens.
- Hatchery Update - Eggs were split up and 518K are at the San Joaquin hatchery and the rest were sent to the American River Hatchery. Of note were the second batch of eggs collected were larger in size.
- 73,000 Kings planted in Shasta - 6-8 inches. Half were planted last week and the other half this week. These were triploided kings (won't reproduce).
- Egg Take #2 adds 350K of eggs - A great supplemental egg take adds to the now of 1.5M eggs. No more will be collected. Check out these great photos in the gallery from Larry Abernathy.
- Kokanee Egg Take #2 - October 16th - 2nd round but targeting less fish. Little Truckee - Above Stampede 7:30AM. Hwy 89 N towards Sierraville; turnout is on right hand side of road ~8-9 miles north of the Hwy 80 interchange.

Kokanee Power was busy in 2014 beyond the 7 regular derby events. Here's some of the activities listed below. Check out our Message Forums and the Projects Page for more details on many of these activities.
-- 2014 - Kokanee Power continues to support 30 trout pens, the most of any organization in the state by providing food and pen resources.
-- October - The Kokanee Egg Takes produced They will be reared for release in 2015.
-- May - Sep - 7 Derbies were held to raise funds to support the fishery.
-- April - Kokanee Power Pen Trout were released at various lakes
-- March - The annual Kokanee Power Fundraiser banquet was held in Lodi. Thanks to all who attended.
-- The Kokanee Kronicle Newsletter provided everyone updates on the clubs activities.
-- January - ISE Show Sacramento. Another great show and volunteers helping man the booth.
